Dear Parents,

For our hat parade, the children wore different kinds of hats and had fun!

In January, we learned about different kinds of bears and their habitats—Black bear, Brown bear, Grizzly bear, Panda bear and Polar bear. We also learned to locate where China is on the map while learning about Panda bears!

We learned about penguins and their habitat. We talked about how snowflakes are formed and how many sides a snowflake has and how they are similar but not two are the same— just like human beings!

We also talked about winter sports.

We are practicing learning sign language everyday at circle time. I will email you the words we are practicing.

Please mark your calendar for the following show & tell days. Please make sure that your child brings an object for show & tell.

February 1st thru 5th ——-any object beginning with the letter “f”

February 8th thru 12th ——picture of anyone who the child loves

February 17th thru 19th —–any US President’s picture

February 22nd thru 26th —–any US President’s picture

The children can bring Valentine cards or pencils or candy or other goodies to share with their friends (for 30 children) for Valentines Day from Feb 8th thru Feb 12th. The children will not eat candy or goodies in the school, however; they will bring them home.

Please call the school whenever your child is absent.

If you are 1-5min late picking or dropping earlier than your child’s assigned times, please pay the fee $6 for each 5min. Please cooperate with us in dropping and picking your child on time.

Please check your emails for next year enrollment. Please let your friends know that we started enrolling for 2010-2011 year for their children.

School will be closed for Presidents week on February 15th and 16th.

Thank you,

 Sujatha Reddy & Staff

Dear Parents,

Hope everybody had healthy and yummy Thanksgiving!

Thanks to the parents who shared the food with us. The children enjoyed pizza as we decided to have a simple feast because of the sickness going around at that time.

In November, we learned about how Pilgrims came to this country and how Indians helped the Pilgrims. We sang songs saying what we are thankful for! We learnt good manner words (please, thank you, excuse me, etc) and practicing them everyday. We learned about the turkey – what a male, female and baby turkey are called, what they eat, etc.

We also learned about 5 senses and did related projects with the children.

We would like to have a finger food party for the children on Dec 18th, 21st, 22nd  and 23rd. You can bring some goodies for the children to eat during those days. We also decided that we will do the gift exchange for the children. Please bring the toy worth $4-$5 wrapped and write your child’s name and name of the toy on the top so we know who it is from and what it is. Please let us know if you do not wish your child to participate in this gift exchange.

Please mark your calendar for the following show & tell days. Please make sure that your child brings an object for show & tell.

Dear Parents,

We had fun things in October!

The Pumpkin Patch trip to the River Bar Farm was fun and the children enjoyed picking the pumpkins and going in the corn maze! We are really sorry that some children couldn’t go to the pumpkin patch due to the weather.

We talked about how pumpkins grow and things made from pumpkin.

The children looked cute in different Halloween costumes and we all had fun going in front of the school and showing off the costumes and singing songs to the passers-by.

The children had fun sharing candy with friends and learned the importance of giving.

We talked about trick or treat safety rules. Hope they all followed them!

We learned about spiders.

The children showed great interest in learning about the human skeleton: the number of bones in human skeleton (206) and identifying major bones— skull, rib cage, pelvic bone, clavicle, patella (knee bone), spine, humerus, femur, mandible, etc.

Thanks to Len Neilson (Jackson’s dad for fixing the front door).

Show & Tell:

Nov 2nd thru Nov 6th ——– any object which starts with the letter “n”

Nov 9th thru Nov 13th ——- Family picture

Nov 16th thru Nov 24th —— what the child is thankful for

Nov 30th thru Dec 4th ——– any object which starts with the letter “d”

We would like to have Thanksgiving feast with children (only children) on Friday Nov 20th, Monday Nov 23rd and Tuesday Nov 24th. The children who bring lunch to the school need not bring the lunch on those 3 days. We will put a sign up sheet for potluck to the school for 3 days. Please sign only on the day when your child comes to the school. All the children will come to school at their regular time and we will have the feast for everyone and no one will be left out.

School Closings:

November, 11th—Veterans Day

November 25th, 26th, & 27th—Thanksgiving

Thank you,

Sujatha Reddy & Staff

Important note:-  Please cooperate with us to keep your child healthy.

Please do not send your child to the school if she/he has fever (the child has to be fever free for 24hrs, not taking Tylenol, to send them to the school). For example, if the child has fever on Sunday at 7pm the child has to be fever free till Monday 7pm and the child can come to the school on Tuesday, not on Monday. Severe cough and bad cold and watery eyes are other symptoms. We would like to be free of germs as much as we can. Please keep reminding your child to wash their hands and not to touch their mouth or nose. We are being very consistent regarding their hand washing and not to touch their nose. Please read more information at this link.

Oct. 2nd, 2009

 Dear Parents,

In September, we learned about the new season— Fall— with an example as how an apple tree changes in all the four seasons. We learned welcome songs, apple songs and poems. The children brought different kinds of apples for show & tell. This month, besides our Montessori activities, we learned few sign language words too!

The new students are slowly adapting to the Montessori environment.

We started talking about fire safety and also practiced few fire drills.

We will be having Halloween Parade (only for children) on Oct 26th, 27th, 28th, and 30th.

We will be having the parade, on each of those days, at 10am for morning children and 2:00pm for the afternoon children in front of the school on the sidewalk.  If you want to watch the parade, you can stand on the opposite side of the school building across the street and watch us during the parade times.

Please do not bring the children in their costumes as it is hard for children to use the bathroom while in costumes. Children should come to the school in their regular clothes and bring their Halloween costumes in a bag. We will help them change to their costumes for the parade. If you want to pass candies or goodies you may do so, but the children will not eat the candy at the school and the candies will be sent home in goodie bags. Each child can bring 30 pieces of candy to share.

Please mark your calendar for the following show & tell days. Please make sure that your child brings an object for show & tell as some of them are not bringing. This show & tell is to encourage your child to describe an object, which will increase her or his vocabulary and confidence to talk in front of people.

Oct 5th thru 9th ——- any kind of spider (fake or picture—not real one)

Oct 12th thru 16th —- an object beginning with the letter “S”

Oct 19th thru 23rd —- any Halloween item

Oct 26th thru 30th—– an object beginning with the letter “C”

 Thank you,

 Sujatha Reddy

September 2009 Newsletter

Prime Montessori School

(Lic# 123006074)

Welcome to Prime Montessori School!

Hope everybody had great summer!

Every month a newsletter will be posted at http://primemontessori.blogspot.com.  Please check there for the newsletter as well as any updates.

Our staff are: Mrs. Sujatha Reddy, Ms. Laura Luttrell, Ms. Rebekah Burns and Ms. Kimberly Mello.

To run our program smoothly, we need your cooperation in following the following rules.

  1. Please sign your FULL signature on the sign-in-sign-out sheet when you drop-off and pick-up your child. It is required by the law. Changing Tides parents, please make sure to sign the time-sheet too.
  2.  Please follow the time on the wall clock so that we all are on the same time schedule.
  3. Please write the exact time you drop-off and pick-up your child on the sign-in-sign-out sheet.
  4.  When picking up your child, please make sure to check her or his folder; it would have the work your child has done that day.
  5. Bring an extra set of clothes in a Ziploc bag (not in a grocery bag), with your child’s name on the bag and on the clothes.
  6. Bring an old sweater or a sweatshirt to leave at the school as the weather changes unexpectedly.
  7. About the immunizations, if the paper work is not done by September 7th, we cannot accept your child, because we will be cited for that.
  8. No toys are allowed except what is for show & tell. Books are always welcome.  If your child brings a toy, we are not responsible if they lose it or break it. So please keep the special toys at home.
  9. If your child is late or absent, please inform the school. If your child is late, drop near the door and do not come in as you will be interrupting the class.
  10. Please check the front door as there might be some important notes posted on it.
  11.  The tuition changes every September and is due by the 3rd of the month. There will be a charge of $10 for late payments for every 1-5 days.
  12. Regarding the tuition fee, it is calculated for 42 weeks (= School year) and divided equally into 10 months. So, you will be paying the same amount every month irrespective of the number of weeks or days in a month. You will pay the tuition in full whether your child is present or absent. There is no reimbursement or adjustments for the missed days. If for any reason, if your child drops out of the program before the year ends, you have to pay the early drop out amount $100.
  13. Please pick and drop your child at the assigned times as other students will be coming for their session and the space is limited to certain number of children at a time. If you are late picking up or early in dropping your child, you will be charged $5.00 for every 1- 5min. To avoid this, please pick your child right on time. If you are going to be late, please call and let us know but you will be still charged and please pay the late charge the same day.
  14. Please email me if you change your home, work, or cell telephone # or your email address. Our email address primemontessori@gmail.com
  15. If you have any concerns regarding your child or the program, please feel free to talk to me. Your input is important.
  16. Please make sure your child eats breakfast at home and not at the school.  We do not monitor any kind of medications. Please do not give cough drops or vitamins in your child’s pocket or lunch as it can be allergic to other children.
  17.  Please do not bring your child to the school if she or he has a fever, is vomiting, or had diarrhea the night before- the child has to be free from contagious disease for at least 24hrs. If not, you have to bring a note from the doctor that the child is not contagious any more.
  18. For those children who eat lunch at school, please pack a healthy lunch—no fruit snacks, only 100% juice, no chips, and no sugary items. We don’t mind warming up food for lunch, but we do not cook anything (ex: macaroni and cheese must already be prepared).
  19. Please make sure your child wears comfortable clothes and shoes to the school.

 Thank you,

Sujatha Reddy
